North Norfolk is an amazing place. The beaches are wild and windswept and ideal for sailing and all things water based. There are a whole host of boats sailed in the numerous harbours and creeks along it's coast line. each of these boats are powered by sails which are very hard to recycle. That's where i come in. I salvage these nylon based sails and repurpose them into wonderfully wonky bespoke bags.

I am always on the look out for sails to salvage.

I can make use of sails in any condition. There is always something I can use in my bags.

As from September 2024 I will be based in the sail loft at Burnham Overy Staithe working alongside my talented daughter Holly who owns and runs Newport Sails. North Norfolk's very own sail repair business.

Cutting out and pattern making

I create my own patterns for the bags. The bags take on the nature of the sails which I have available. This is why no two bags can ever be the same.  

Sails simply don't biodegrade.

Sails are made from nylon which is incredibly hardwearing, durable and resistant to weathering processes. When sails become unusable they are often left in people's sheds, garages or thrown into landfill where they linger for hundreds of years.

Getting out and about at Craft Markets is one of my absolute favourite ways to sell. I have met the most incredible people and received so much support and positive feedback from everyone. It truly is the most amazing way to run a little business.
